The Explorer’s Reef at SeaWorld San Diego: Insider Tips for Visitors

Before your visit, check the park hours and show times on the website, and check for attraction closures. A number of attractions close between January and May for annual maintenance.

Make sure you know what you can and cannot bring into the park. And get a locker too! Manta requires lockable storage for carry-ons.

Early arrival or early opening are the best times to visit the park. Early in the morning, wait times for rides are shorter and crowds are less. The park will have more time for you to explore.

Be sure to stay at least six to eight hours. By staying for this long, you will have the opportunity to see all the shows, animal exhibits, and rides.

At show times, avoid walking near the amphitheaters as crowds will start to disperse.

At Explorers Reef, you can touch the pools and get up close and personal with so many amazing animals. At the park, there are many exhibits and aquariums. Underwater Viewing of Orcas and Shark Encounter are my favorite animal exhibits.

Bring quarters for the flamingo food and water bombs for the water rides.

Battery life is important for taking pictures and recording videos.

Getting to the park early will ensure there will not be a long wait, or you can buy a Quick Queue pass, but that is usually better in the summer.
